WCMS Scholarship Program
The first Whatcom County Medical Society Pre-medical Scholarship at Western Washington University was founded in 1994, during the presidency of Dr. Clark Parish, and awarded for the first time in 1997. Since that time, many students have benefited from the generosity of Whatcom County physicians, and Western students are demonstrating very solid medical school matriculation results. In 2008, 23 students matriculated into various medical schools, with 10 going to the University of Washington.
The Whatcom County Medical Society Pre-medical Scholarship is awarded annually by vote of the faculty, and it has been instrumental in helping deserving students maintain their pre-medical studies. The recent financial upheaval in the markets has made the need for the scholarship even greater, and it has depleted funds invested to support the scholarship.
You can easily donate to the Whatcom County Medical Society Scholarship by going to www.wwu.edu/give, or by contacting the Western Washington University Foundation at (360) 650-3616. You will receive a receipt from the Western Washington University Foundation documenting your contribution to the scholarship fund for tax purposes.
