Whatcom Project AcessWhatcom Project Access

Whatcom Project Access is a partnership between the Whatcom County Medical Society & the Whatcom Alliance for Healthcare Advancement. Through Whatcom Project Access, local specialists and other medical providers generously donate their time and resources to provide care for eligible patients.

Our collective aim is to more effectively serve uninsured, lower-income people in Whatcom County by:

  • Ensuring an equitable distribution of lower-income, uninsured patients
  • Providing program support to physician offices
  • Attracting other resources to improve the quality of care and ensure program sustainability

Whatcom Project Access provides a comprehensive referral system that includes ancillary services and patient tracking, so volunteer physicians can focus on what they do best – providing care. WAHA also tracks the value of donated care to leverage additional resources and ensure program sustainability.

Whatcom Alliance for Healthcare Access

Whatcom AllianceThe Whatcom Alliance for Healthcare Access is a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting access to healthcare services for all members of our community. Composed of a wide range of partners including leaders from the nonprofit, business and governmental sectors, as well as many local health care organizations, we are dedicated to solving community healthcare problems.

The Whatcom County Medical Society has partnered with WAHA to create Whatcom Project Access, a local program where local specialists and other medical providers generously donate their time and resources to provide care for eligible patients donated. WAHA is focused on the following local solutions:

  • Providing client services for people wanting information and assistance about health insurance and accessing health care in Whatcom County.
  • Recruiting much-needed physicians to the area and retaining the doctors already serving Whatcom County.
  • Providing information for decision makers and the community about sound healthcare policies.

Whatcom Project Access Patients Say Thank You

I think WPA is a wonderful project. I've worked for almost two years with a local nonprofit that didn't offer insurance and barely paid enough for private. Everyone at WPA made it easy for me to get the surgery that I needed. The doctor and his staff were so professional. I have recently started working again. I couldn’t have done that without the necessary surgery. The WPA has improved my health so I could better my income and restored my faith in the medical arena. Thank you so much.

I'm very grateful for Project Access and those who give their time for others. I thank you all at Whatcom Project Access.

This is a wonderful and very valuable program. It is good for a community to care for others.

I had an extremely pleasant experience with WPA! Efficient, courteous, caring and excellent care from the WPA staff as well as the surgeon whose services I needed.

I couldn't ask for more. WPA helped me when no on else would. I greatly appreciate their services and help.

In the world of heath care you were the primary glimpse of integrity and good spirit. The program is excellent because it gives those who don’t have health insurance hope and relief.
